about

Inspired by the book "Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania" by Eric Larson. Larson writes excellent history books that use primary sources but read like novels.

lyrics

A sailing ship, the jewel of Liverpool’s crown.
Not a person aboard, believed they’d drown.
The captain of sub U-20, had decided their fate.
1200 souls, their deaths would not wait

From her birth, Lusitania’s secret not told
A place for munitions, inside the hold.
The passengers above, they walk carefree
Oblivious to the danger, under the sea.

Chorus
Mourn for the toll of the slaughter
Mourn for the innocent slain.
Sink beneath the waves and salt water
Innocence put in harms way
(Lusitania’s dead wake?

A zig zag route and the liner turned,
A perfect target at 700 meters
The passengers felt, the hit of torpedo
And soon explosions would break the hull
